Few events disturb a community more than the use of excessive force by police. As many times as it seems obviously justified, it also seems extremely suspicious. Throughout several neighborhoods what may appear as a prejudicial mistrust of the police is really a fear for the unpredictable results when authority and weapons combine. With this project that anxiety translates into a garment that senses police presence. Equipped with a police scanner and micro controller, for detecting the signal range, the jacket’s embedded EL wire illuminates in the design of a police shooting-range target when it is aware of a nearby officer. The target on the wearer’s chest outwardly communicates their concern for what the officer may be internally visualizing.
